These are typically debug outputs and we don't want them to appear on stderr of
release builds. They confuse people (some tester would report these on IRC when
we last release GIMP 2.99.14).
So let's not show these debug text on release versions.
What it means is that we will be a bit strict over our <release>
formatting which will have to always be a <p> introduction followed by a
list of items. This is what gimp_appstream_to_pango_markups() expects.
Since so far, this is how all our <release> tags were formatted anyway,
this is not too much of a problem.
Note that I keep the less strict gimp_appstream_to_pango_markup() and
use it for extension's appstream description as we will have no control
over these.
The main reason for this new rule and new display of our release notes
is that I am going to add the ability to click independent release items
so that people can get "blinking" indications of what changed when
relevant.
I'm going to reuse this code in other parts of the file so make it a
utils function.
While doing so, I'm also improving a tiny bit the formatting of lists.
In gimp-utils, add new gimp_idle_run_async() and
gimp_idle_run_async_full() functions, having the same signature as
gimp_parallel_run_async[_full](), but running the async function in
an idle source on the main thread, instead of in a separate thread.
The 'priority' parameter of gimp_idle_run_async_full() specifies
the idle-source priority.
This completes my earlier commit 406279e4ef.
Extension installation is not about just decompressing a file in the
right folder. We must also make the extension manager and the GUI aware
of this newly available extension.
Fix gimp_constrain_line() and friends to properly constrain line
angles when the image's horizontal and vertical resolutions are
different, and dot-for-dot is disabled.
... which are similar to g_ascii_strtoll() (except that
gimp_ascii_strtoi returns a gint, and not a gint64), and
g_ascii_strtod(), however, they make error checking simpler, by
returning a boolean value, indicating whether the conversion was
successful (taking both conversion and range errors into account),
and return the actual value through a pointer.
... which is a drop-in replacement for
g_data_input_stream_read_line(), however, it always returns a non-
NULL value when there's no error. If the end-of-file is reached,
an empty string is returned.
It is not used anywhere anymore and can be replaced by the more powerful
gimp_stack_trace_print() (which can also allocate a string containing
the backtrace, hence is a proper replacement call).
Replace gimp_parameter_*() utility functions with equivalent
gimp_properties_*() functions which deal with separate arrays of names
and values, and use g_object_new_with_properties() instead of
g_object_newv().
Add an offset_angle parameter to gimp_constrain_line(), which
offsets the radial lines by a given angle.
Add gimpdisplayshell-utils.[ch], with two new functions:
- gimp_display_shell_get_constrained_line_offset_angle():
Returns the offset angle to be passed to
gimp_constrain_line(), in order to constrain line angles in
display space, according to the shell's rotation angle and
flip mode.
- gimp_display_shell_constrain_line(): A convenience function
which calls gimp_constrain_line() with the said offset angle.
Use the new functions in all instances where we constrain line
angles, so that angles are constrained in display space, rather
than image space.
The only exception is GimpEditSelectionTool, which keeps
constraining angles in image space, since it's not entirely obvious
that we want to constrain angles of dragged layers/selections in
display space.
file-procedure.[ch] is gone and its functions moved to
GimpPlugInManager where they belong (the manager keeps around the
lists of load, save and export procedures).
Utility functions from file-utils.[ch] that have nothing to do with
image files moved to core/gimp-utils.[ch].
which returns an error if there is no pattern for GIMP_FILL_PATTERN.
Use it instead of having the same code in 3 variants, and make error
handling consistent with bucket fill.
instead of gimp_container_get_neighbor_of_active() in gimp-utils.c.
Move the additional GimpContext logic of the old function into the
callers, but use the new function in more places.
Add gimp_markup_extract_text() which does just what it says (includes
code stolen from gmarkup.c), and use it if the layer's text object
doesn't have any text set.

* all files with a GPL header and all COPYING files:
Change licence to GPLv3 (and to LGPLv3 for libgimp).

new utility function which returns the neighbor of a container's
active item.
